What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a medical system developed by Samuel Hahneman in 1810 based on the principle that like cures like. Hahneman was disgusted by the medical treatments of his time which were as likely to kill a patient as the disease itself. He sought a gentler cure which could restore health. His breakthrough moment came when he discovered that quinine bark which cured malaria, when taken by a well person provoked similar symptoms to malaria- fever, and vomiting.
How does homeopathy work?
Homeopathy uses dilute solutions made from mineral, plant and animal sources to create healing. The correct remedy where the symptom picture exactly matches the remedy's profile helps the body shift towards healing. The exact mechanism of effect is unknown as most remedies are so dilute that no molecule of the original remains. There is likely a transference of properties that takes place during the potentization of the remedy.
Can homeopathy be taken with conventional medicine?
Yes, due to its diluted nature homeopathy doesn't interfere with conventional medications which work on a chemical receptor model. Some conventional medications though can block certain homeopathic remedies.
